Indep.MO: HELP! Cat Abandoned in Empty House for 4 weeks now!!!

Date: Sun, 11 Oct 2009 16:10:58 -0700 (PDT)
From: kim...@yahoo.com <kim...@yahoo.com>

There have been no replies with help for this poor cat. Can anyone take her in? Even temporarily until a spot opens for her? If someone can find a place in their rescue/home, I’ll find sponsorship for her vetting. Not sure what is needed at this point. I just know this cat needs to get out of that house!

Subject: Indep.MO: HELP! Cat Abandoned in Empty House for 4 weeks now!!!

I received a call yesterday about a cat left in a now abandoned house when her family moved away about 4 weeks ago. The people took their pit bulls and dachshund with them but did not take their cat. No one knew she was there until they saw her sitting in the window, looking out. She remains inside this house, which I am told is filthy. Her litter box is terrible, as no one is there to scoop. The neighbors have begun feeding her and providing water since the doors of the house are unlocked. They set it inside for her but know she needs to get out of the house ASAP. The electricity has now been turned off. The neighbors reached the owners, who said they don’t want the cat anymore and don’t know what to do with her.
Can anyone help this poor cat?? She is friendly with people and dogs. She is long haired, mostly white with a big, bushy black tail. They say she is very pretty. I can assist in getting her to you if you can take her in. Please let me know ASAP!!!

Kim,

There is a mom and 2 babies in our blue room that really need foster.  The babies are about 5-7 weeks, 1.5 pounds.  They have been here for some time, but we are so full with cats.  Also, we have a Ragdoll mix that is older, 6-8 years old that came in flea infested and missing hair due to the fleas.  She is very sweet, but Siamese Rescue can’t take her.  If you get a chance to post this, I would really appreciate it.  The numbers are below:

A08340666, Ragdoll, Avail 9/5, 6-8 year female
A08297766, Black DMH female, Mom
A08297804, Black female, baby 5-7 weeks
A08297813 , Torti female, baby 5-7 weeks

Thanks Kim!

Kansas City, MO//Feral Cats need help ASAP

From: “Sara” <sree...@kc.rr.com>
Date: Fri, August 28, 2009 5:04 pm

I am writing for the benefit of two (possibly three) feral cats that have made a 3 – 4 block territory their own. I believe they are all siblings. They were born about a year ago to a cat under someone’s concrete front porch steps, and were not rescued or humanized. I only discovered this information two weeks ago, when asking questions of random people in the blocks around my own.

I am in a place that is a poor choice to construct a feral cat colony. I am wanting to find a place for these cats, in a colony that is already in place. I am prepared to catch them (humane traps), pay to have them spayed/neutered, and deliver them to such a colony. I considered trying to construct shelters on the back deck or underneath patio, but fear it may bring even more ferals to the backyard, and the neighbors around me would not like this. My home does not back up to a woods, or I would consider it.

These cats are similar in appearance; one is a pretty tortie, the second looks like a gray tabby/ tortie mix. The third looks like a mixture between the two. I feed two of them; the other one lives on another block and doesn’t venture over, although I see it with consistency when I drive down that street. I feel I could catch it with permission from home-owners, where it seems to gravitate.

There is an apartment complex close to woods, not far from the block where the cats were born; I feel certain one of the ferals there came up and gave birth in the neighborhood area, then left the kittens for the woods again. The kittens grew up in the neighborhoods, and remained there.

I am also concerned about the ferals around the apartments, but am still trying to find out is someone is feeding them (I think so) and how many there might be. For now, I am concentrating on the three that live amongst the houses….

If anyone knows of a place where the ferals would be cared for in cat colonies watched over by caretakers (food, shelters, etc.) – via an organization or rescue group – I would be interested in knowing about this before it gets cold out. I want to do right by these cats, if I can.

Thank you for any information or help you could give me and the cats…..
