Today, I wrote to three friends and colleagues to let them know I’ve retired from rescue for I’m out of resources, money, & grace. A lot of damaged realtionships and misunderstandings have cropped up. I take my blame for my part yet not all of it is entirely my fault. Life, you know?
So I went over to a dear friend’s adoption center to hand over my last three crates for use so they can continue to help her with rescue. Only, I must be a sucker or whatever or God’s trying to tell me something…I don’t know…I saw a stray dog eating leftover feral cat food by the trains. I thought they belonged to the couple who was watering the plants so I didn’t do anything at first. Then they left the dog and I finally realized the dog was truly stray. I went over with slip lead & bowl of water. This dog is so sweet! Just COVERED with red skin…looks to be mange instead of sunburn. Very little hair. She’s a lady. She let me touch her and put the sliplead on her. It hit me then…I have NO resources. I can’t bring her home with me, no money, no nothing. Yet I promised her I’d see her to safety.

* A079503 GOLDEN RETRIEVER female young adult. Looks pure to me, VERY sweet. Seems to have entropian in both eyes, as she was blinking a lot and even holding her eyes closed when she laid down — and I saw her paw at her eye a couple times. I wish I could have helped her!
Available 7/5 for adoption (NOW.)
* A079792 COCKER SPANIEL female adult, cream colored. Definitely PUREBRED COCKER. Stray pick up, available 7/12/05. Seemed incredibly sweet, not terribly matted. Almost looked recently groomed.
* A079599 BOSTON TERRIER male, black and white adult. Stray – they list him as a BT mix but he sure looked pure to me. Available TODAY

* A079684 BOSTON TERRIER male, brown and white, right eye is BLUE. Stray – they list him as a BT mix also… but other than the blue eye, sure looks like a Boston to me. Available TODAY (7/6/05)
* NO NUMBER – BOXER male, neutered. Was in back row – maybe just picked up? No collar or ID tag (yet?) Brown body with four white legs and little white on chest and on face. Natural ears. Maybe a lost dog???
KCMO is high kill shelter. Time is of the essence! 816-513-9800. Rescue are allowed Wed and Fri. (STUPID RULE) $80 for dogs unless you can get shelter to shelter (very diffcult to do right now).
